Residence: Home with a Joesler influence
A kitchen with Spanish Colonial Character

A kitchen with Spanish Colonial Character

Brick floors, plaster walls, tile that looks antique, and an arched hood over the cooktop combine with the latest appliances to make this kitchen warm and inviting.  The intended sense of antiquity provides informal stability as everyone is drawn to this area.  The glazed finish of the wood cabinets, the watermark glass doors and the iron hardware are enhanced by a combination of lighting at night and the skylight gently funnels sunlight during the day.  A bar height seating area, sink, workspace, and refrigerator are across the aisle from the cooktop and wetbar.  An antique kitchen table sits in front of the brick corner fireplace and the French doors lead to a large covered patio.

Home with a Joesler influence Challenge:

The challenge was to build and furnish a new home that looks like an “old” Joesler.  A home of today reminescent of Tucson’s Broadway Village (designed by Joesler) mirroring the timeless design elements found in desert climates.

Solution:

The influence of Spanish Colonial mission style designed to take full advantage of views and natural surroundings give this home an antique character.  Washed burnt adobe walls, exposed wood beams, arches, and patios draw us into the home.  Interior walls of plaster mixed with marble dust and brick floors become the background for this hacienda.
