Stained Glass and Custom Painting

Stained Glass and Custom Painting

Stepping into this entry is the first clue that this home is unique. Attention to detail is obvious with the stained glass side-lite panel, the Alder entry door, the decorative wall painting and the amber metallic glass tile accents in the floor. The entry directs guests forward into the open space of the living room.

A House is a House until… Challenge:

A house is a house until it is tailored to the homeowners personalities and needs. The clients are moving from the Northwest.  The husband is relocating in his job while the wife is in the process of retiring. The house is a little too small and does not have the “right kind of spaces” for hobbies. The view of the mountains is spectacular if one could only see it better. The clients want color, drama, and workable spaces for leisure time in their “retirement” home.

Solution:

From the outside, this patio home looked like one of many others in the neighborhood. Once inside, the possibilities for expansion and rearranging space unfolded as the team of homeowners, architect, builder, and interior designer started planning for the client’s needs. Photography, birding, traveling, and computers were some of the hobbies to be considered.

The magnificent sunrises and sunsets splayed color across the mountains and that color became the key for the interior selections. The expanded East wall now has glass sliding doors across the space inviting you to “come look at the patio and the wash behind and the mountains behind that!”  The addition of a fireplace surrounded by ledgestone and niches added warmth and interest to an otherwise long blank wall.  An addition on the south side of the house created a spacious media room/office where photos from travels can be viewed with a click of the button that lowers the screen. Accessible storage and workspace makes projects go faster. The master bedroom and bath were enlarged and there is easy access to the patio for early morning bird watching!

What they're saying

As you probably know, Paula, your faux artist, finished the fireplace last week. It is absolutely gorgeous! The more we live with it, the more beautiful it becomes. The curtains you chose, are the finishing touch on the room, and added the warmth and elegance we were looking for. Your visions for what a room needs, in order to be more than "just very nice", but stunning, cannot be matched by anyone! Thank you for all your time and creative gifts. I can hardly wait to do the kitchen!

Fondly
Anne
