Residence: Enhancing the Spanish Mexican Flavor of an Existing Home
This Room Addition Settles into the Original Home

This Room Addition Settles into the Original Home

Antique tables and a secretary combine with leather furnishings, area rugs, and crewel drapery to produce a dramatic timeless quality.

Talavera Tiles surround the fireplace opening continuing the Spanish Mexican theme.  The hand-hewn mantel with the supporting corbels and legs give visual strength and scale to the large room.  The decorative painting behind the mirror on the fireplace adds to the feeling of age and stateliness.

Enhancing the Spanish Mexican Flavor of an Existing Home Challenge:

Build upon the basic structure of this house enhancing and adding to the architectural features to produce a cohesive Spanish Mexican themed home.  The house is nestled into the mountain with great city views that are being ignored.

Solution:

Add a large room with lots of detail and rich color for gatherings around a large fireplace surrounded with cabinetry for books and media.  Add a porch that surrounds 2 sides of the room for sunsets, city lights, and wildlife in the mountain.

What they're saying

As you probably know, Paula, your faux artist, finished the fireplace last week. It is absolutely gorgeous! The more we live with it, the more beautiful it becomes. The curtains you chose, are the finishing touch on the room, and added the warmth and elegance we were looking for. Your visions for what a room needs, in order to be more than "just very nice", but stunning, cannot be matched by anyone! Thank you for all your time and creative gifts. I can hardly wait to do the kitchen!

Fondly
Anne
